Welcome

God continues to provide us with reason to celebrate the many relationships and ministries we have enjoyed throughout the past 200 years. And in faith we look forward to what comes next as together we provide a place for worship and hospitality in the city of Reading.

We will celebrate with our community at our Block Party in the Parking Lot on Saturday, September 24th from 2pm-4pm. Come and learn about the organizations that use our building, find out how you might become involved with them, eat a hot dog and enjoy a shaved ice. It will be a time of neighborhood fun. We will also have visits from government officials.

On Sunday, September 25th, we will have one worship service at the Reading Sanctuary at 11am. It will also be available simultaneously on ZOOM, see our website for the ZOOM link. Our bell choir, chancel choir and organist Barbara Woods will provide music fit for a worshipful celebration. The Rev. Dr. William Shillady will preach a message inspiring us for the next phases of ministry as the people of Holy Cross (his biography is on the back). Following the service, we will gather in Wesley Hall (basement) for a catered celebration luncheon.

We continue to collect a special offering honoring our commitment as a Reconciling Congregation within the UMC. Our offering will be given to the LGBTQ Center of Greater Reading. Money can be sent to the church office or placed in the offering any Sunday through September (envelopes are available at each sanctuary).

We the people of Holy Cross are an inclusive, welcoming community committed to sharing God’s love unconditionally. Come and celebrate with us!
